Coming off of their second loss to the Colgate Raiders in as many years, the Syracuse Orange men's basketball returned to the JMA Wireless Dome to host the Northeastern Huskies, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

The Orange entered onto their home court with a 100% winning percentage against the Huskies, defeating them in all eight of their prior contests.

However, the last time they played one another was a little too close for comfort for Syracuse, having won by a mere two possessions, 62-56, in 2020.

Less than two minutes into the game, Syracuse led 9-0 (18:02 mark).

In this match-up, the Orange rolled out to a 39-25 advantage at the break, making more than half of their shots in the opening period (55.2%), going 16-for-29, while the Huskies went 9-for-32, ending the period at 28.1% effectgive on offense.

Of their 39 first-half points, 26 came in the paint for Syracuse.

At the break, three of Syracuse's starters were in double-figures: senior center Jesse Edwards with 13, true freshman point guard Judah Mintz with 11, and senior guard Joe Girard, III, also with 11.

Girard would get his first points of the second half on back-to-back makes between the 12:49 and 12:28 mark, the first being from long range.

Back-to-back jumpers by sophomore forward Benny Williams and true freshman guard Justin Taylor got them on the board between 7:30 and 6:49 remaining in the contest.

Williams advanced the Orange out to a 30-point lead, 71-41, in transition as he went underneath the basket and up over his head with 4:40 remaining.

Syracuse would close out the Dome for the night with a 28-point victory, 76-48, to move themselves back above .500, at 2-1, while Northeasetern was left still eyeing their first victory, falling to 0-4.

Girard would finish his time in the second half just shy of his first-half output, scoring 10 in the second after amounting 11 in the first, and came out with 9:01 left in the latter half. He led all players om both sides with 21 points, followed by Edwards with 19, and Mintz with 18.

No Huskies reached double-figures, with freshman guard/foward Jared Turner leading Northeastern with seven.

Northeastern never led in the entire 40 minutes of play.
