 Dan,

Good morning and a quick update from the Syracuse University men’s soccer office as we prepare for our trip this weekend to Oneonta, NY. The boys are looking forward to hitting the road and competing in Mayor’s Cup XXXVI. This is a tournament that has a special place in my heart and I am very proud to be part of this Syracuse University team as we compete against NJIT and St. Bonaventure University. It has been fantastic to play in front of some terrific home SU crowds this season but we will learn a great deal about our team this weekend. We also know that we willhave some of our local SU supporters making the trip down to Oneonta to cheer on the team. Travel safely and we will see you at the games!

On Friday night (7:30 p.m.) we compete against a talented, technical NJIT team and the boys realize that we must ensure that we build upon an excellent performance against Colgate University earlier this week. The boys set the bar very high on Monday night with an outstanding performance against a quality Colgate team and the challenge now exists to demonstrate a similar level of consistency from game to game. We scored some excellent goals and played somegreat attacking soccer. The boys will take tremendous confidence from such a performance and I know that they are looking forward to getting back out onto the pitch.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish our women’s SU soccer team all the very best this weekend as they play against LIU and Army. The ladies are off to a good start to their season and I would like to thank the entire women's team for the fantastic support that they have provided to our team during our home (and even away) games. And we will also all be cheering on Coach Marrone’s team this weekend as they tackle USC at MetLife Stadium. Go ‘CUSE!

Well that about does it for now other than to thank those of you who wished Lyla well with her first day at Kindergarten. She has quickly embraced school although she did refuse to use the restroom during her entire first day at school and she revealed that she was “whispering” with a boy during the appointed rest time… a boy, who I may add, is far cuter than daddy! I am already contemplating scrapping this whole educational experiment and home schooling sounds pretty good right about now.

I look forward to chatting again soon and please remember that additional updates can be found at Inside the 18.

We truly appreciate your support of the program and please keep cheering on the boys!
