It is with a heavy heart that the words that follow are written.
Former Syracuse Orange tight end Chris Gedney has passed away.
Gedney played for Syracuse for four seasons from 1989 through 1992. As a member of the Orange, he accumulated 1,334 yards on 91 receptions, including seven touchdowns.
He would move onto the National Football League (NFL) to play for the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals, playing in 73 games in total, attaining 914 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
Gedney has served Syracuse University most recently as a Senior Associate Athletics Director, working with the Orange Club, giving him the responsibility of solicitation for major gifts as well as managing the donor prospect pool.
He gave his time also to the National Down Syndrome Society as a member of their Board of Directors, along with being on the Imagine Syracuse Executive Board of Directors.
Gedney was connected with the New York State Special Olympics, displaying yet another link of service to the Central New York and greater community overall.
He has four children, Annaleigh, Chase, Elianna, and Montanna.
