Dan,
Good afternoon and a quick update from the Syracuse University men’s soccer office. Pre-season is going well and we played three competitive games last week. We traveled to both Boston College and Hartwick College while we hosted a Monroe College team that competed in the 2011 NJCAA National Championship game. I feel that we learned a great deal about our team during these three scrimmages and we had the opportunity to take a look at every member of our young squad. We know that we still have a lot of work ahead of us and we look forward to an excellent week of training. But it certainly is fun to play games!
Our focus now firmly turns towards our game against Albany University on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. It is always nice to open up your schedule at home and I know that the boys are looking forward to playing in front of our SU fans, family and friends. I hope that many of our supporters will be able to come out to the SU Soccer Stadium and help us officially open up the 2012 campaign. We realize that we will have to perform at our very best on Friday to have success against a good Albany team under the new leadership of CoachGorman.
Unfortunately I do have some very sad news to share at this time. Lauren Papaleo (23) passed away on Friday and I would ask our SU Soccer family to keep Joe, Maureen, LJ and Julianne in your thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. Joe and LJ have both proudly wore our Syracuse University uniform and I know that everyone associated with our program would like to join me in passing on our sincere condolences to the entire Papaleo family. God bless.
Well that does it for now and I look forward to chatting again soon. Please remember that additional updates can be found at Inside the 18 and I hope to see many of you at our game on Friday night (7:00 p.m.) at the SU Soccer Stadium.
We truly appreciate your support of the program and please keep cheering on the boys!
