Dan,
Good morning and I wanted to provide you a quick update from the Syracuse University men’s soccer office. I hope that you are enjoying the Olympics from London and it is exciting to follow those Olympians with ties to Syracuse University. Yesterday Shannon Taylor’08 scored the winning US field hockey goal against Argentina and Coach Boeheim and Carmelo Anthony continue their quest for Gold. It is very inspiring to watch our athletes competing on such a stage and we wish them all the very best in London… it is, however, a little strange to watch a beach volleyballgame played in 55 degree temperatures with athletes wearing leggings and multiple layers of clothing!
There is only one week until pre-season camp begins and I would like to thank those supporters who have already passed on their best wishes to the team. It really means a great deal to the boys to know that they have your support as we enter the 2012 campaign.
I wanted to share with you some details pertaining to the 30th Anniversary of our 1982 BIG EAST Championship as we celebrate the 1982 SU Soccer Team on Friday, August 31st and Saturday, September 1st.
On Friday, August 31st the 1982 BIG EAST Championship team will be recognized during our game against Niagara University (7:00 p.m.) and there will be a post-game celebration with this special group of players and their families. On Saturday, September 1st the 1982 team will be honored during the SU Football Home Opener against Northwestern University in the Carrier Dome at 12:00 p.m. This will be the first game of the 2012 schedule for Coach Marrone’s team and will be aired live on ESPN 2.
I hope that you will be able to join us here on campus to recognize the accomplishments of the 1982 BIG EAST Championship Team Please help us share this information to ensure that we have a good group of alums, fans and supporters back in town to celebrate with the guys.
Thank you for your continued support of the program and please keep cheering on the boys!
