SU Soccer Media Update w/ Coach McIntyre - Page Two

Posted on September 27, 2012 at 11:15 AM

Dan,

Good afternoon and a quick update from the Syracuse University men’s soccer office as we wrap up a fantastic week of camp. It has been great to have so many young players visit with us here on campus. Our staff and players had a lot of fun working with the campers and it was good to see some of our local fans out at our evening games to support the kids.

In other news our SU guys are continuing to enjoy successful summer seasons. Congratulations to Nicholas Bibbs (Ocean City Nor’easters) and Anthony Asante (Ocala Stampede) who have secured spots in the PDL play-offs. Bibbs led the Nor’easters (13-3) to the PDL Mid-Atlantic Title and the best record in the Eastern Conference while Asante scored 5 goals and registered 2 assists as the Stampede (11-3-2) secured the right to host the Southern Conference Championship. In NPSL action Mauwena Agbossoumonde (Greater Binghamton FC), Stephen Krachie (Morris County Colonials) and MarkBrode (New York Red Bulls) have each secured play-off spots with their respective teams. Well done boys and good luck in the play-offs.

Some of our newest additions to the program also continue to enjoy success this summer. Stamoulacatos and Bono both showed well in last week’s New England Revolution Reserve Match and continue to receive national recognition for their performances. Stamoulacatos has recently been recognized as the U.S. Soccer Development Academy East Conference Player of theYear and Bono has been selected by Topdrawersoccer.com as one of the top 10 freshmen to watch this season.

Congratulations to all of our guys and I know that our entire squad is working hard to prepare correctly for pre-season camp. CollegeSoccerNews recently published a SU 2012 Season Pre-view and rest assured that we will all be working extremely hard this year to make all of our supporters proud.

I would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank Michael and Vernita Hilliard for becoming our newest members of Friends of SU Soccer Thank you so much for your generosity and your support!

Well that about does it for now although I will shortly be sharing plans for the 30th Anniversary celebrations for our 1982 BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP team. I hope that you will be able to join me in recognizing this very special team this Fall.

We truly appreciate your support of the program and please keep cheering on the boys!
